Matted Fur Policy
In accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 we will only remove a cat’s matted or pelted coat if deemed ethically and holistically feasible. If we decide against it we will refer you to your vet for removal under sedation.
Before proceeding with your cat’s groom you will be asked to sign a Cuttycrumb Cat Matted Cat Disclaimer. As the owner you should disclose any known health issues or concerns which could adversely affect your cat during the grooming process. An additional charge, from £20 -£50 will be applied on top of your regular grooming price. You should be aware that an extension of the appointment may be necessary.
All cats can develop mats but certain breeds are more prone and failure to groom regularly can result in discomfort and skin issues for these cats. Neglecting these mats can result in tighter, pelted formations and their removal can result in unavoidable skin traumas such as irritation, inflammation or cuts and grazes as a cat’s skin is paper thin.
Shaving a cat’s fur comes with a risk of change in fur texture, direction of growth, or even failure to regrow despite our efforts to prevent this happening. . We recommend consulting your vet in these cases and any resulting fees are the responsibility of the cat owner after signing the Matted Cat Disclaimer.
Upon booking our grooming services the cat owner acknowledges and assumes the risks associated with matted fur and the grooming process.
Follow up care – after the groom we will provide you with recommendations for maintaining your cat’s coat to prevent matting in the future. Adhering to these recommendations will contribute to your cat’s health and wellbeing.
At The Cuttycrumb Cat we reserve the right to terminate grooming appointments at any time if this is in the best interests of the cat’s welfare, health and safety as well as that of the groomer.
